Psychoanalysis
Contemporary psychoanalysis can address the same problems as psychotherapy, through a more intensive approach that usually involves several sessions per week. Psychoanalysis often includes a focus on unconscious processes that may be contributing to a person's difficulties, patterns of relating, and emotional states. The therapeutic relationship is central to the psychoanalytic process. Over time, psychoanalysis can provide a deeper understanding of the self and a more expansive life experience. In addition to my two decades practicing clinical psychology, I have dedicated many years to intensive training as a psychoanalyst.
